It would be wonderful if this was open source. Clients like Nicotine+ really don't cut it, and a Qt client would be absolutely amazing, definitely leading to the adopting of SoulSeek in all sorts of ways. OSS is the way to go.

Totally agree. Please make
Totally agree. Please make this software open source and it will fly free. If you need some inspiration, check the Blender liberation story http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=es&u=http://www.lanacion....
Not to alienate the OSS crowd
Not to alienate the OSS crowd, but I don't feel like open sourcing the SoulseekQt client is the right thing for us to do at this point. That's not saying the option is off the table, but I'm not interested in open-sourcing the client right now.

Two and a half years later, would you reconsider? Precompiled binaries don't integrate well at all on Linux. I'd also be happy to perform a security audit of the code if it's released. It requires quite a bit of faith to be running these network enabled binaries, and the source code would really do a great deal for establishing trust.
No response to security audit.
Yes, security is VERY important issue here.
How can any user use this software only with blind faith in its security?
And still no respone on your queston? :/

And one year later ? I think some people would be happy to contribute to this project. I don't know why you're not interested by open-sourcing soulseekqt..
