Local Error (specific case)
I was wondering if anyone had insight on this: I am running QT build 2013.5.18 on Windows 8 (yes I know, terrible in most ways) with 600+ GB HD space. The setup works quite well for the most part except when either a file name or a shared folder name of another use has a "?" in it. If the folder has it the entire folder contents fail with a "local error" message as soon as downloading begins. If individual files have it they do not fail but remain indefinitely at the #1 space in the other user's upload queue without ever successfully starting (even as the rest of the files in a given folder successfully transfer). This problem may also be true of some diacritical marks but I don't have enough examples to say for sure. Any ideas or specific actions I could take with settings to address this issue?

Hi there,
Hi there,
I've noticed this error too, but it's a Windows issue. When I find a user has a share that contains a character that Windows does not like (i.e. it fails/local error), I sign into my Ubuntu laptop, or just use Virtual Box to run Linux, download the file and rename it - then bring it over to Windows.
Sadly, I believe that's the only way around it. I guess, you could contact the person sharing the file and ask them to rename it for you - and then reshare it - I would do that, if it was me.
Good luck!
No, it's a Linux issue as
No, it's a Linux issue as well, if only for files in complex charsets, e. g. Japanese.
I had the case that no matter how hard I tried, one track just would not download. I was literally on the verge of 'starving' in the user's queue because I never got a rank.
This one said character even messed up the whole file listing in 'Browse', meaning that the folder of the album (which this track was contained in) was not shown normally in the subfolder, but instead appeared in the parent directory. There are still some handful of characters which SoulseekQt simply does not like.
