Cannot open SoulseekQt-2013-10-5 on Ubuntu 12.04

I've been using SoulseekQT without incident since at least last February. The 2013-5-18 release was working really spiffy on my old hard drive. Then came the crash of September 2013. My hard drive died. But that was in many ways ok, because I didn't really like the version of Linux Mint I was running. So, new hard drive, fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04.

One of the first programs outside the Ubuntu repository that i HAD to replace was Soulseek. I've tried all of the wanna-bes like nicotine, but I've been a fan and user of Soulseek from the first time I installed the version for XP, probably 5 or 6 years ago.

So, I downloaded the new version, and used the archive manager to unpack the files to my home directory, like always, then right clicked, selected "open" like always, and then..............nothing.

So, I reinstalled 2013-5-16, unpacked, opene, and .................nothing.

I thought maybe I needed to go back to the beginning. I downloaded 2013-2-12, unpacked, opened, and SUCCESS! And then it asked me if I wanted to update to 2013-5-18, and I thought, YES! So I did, and then I could open 2013-5-18. So then I thought, maybe updating was the key, and maybe now, 2013-10-5, but it still won't open.

I think I have all of the QT4 libraries and python dependencies met, so I am a little frustrated. Mostly with my inability to solve this on my own. I really don't want to have to use a Windows version under WINE, so I'm hoping there's a Linux user out there who can help me.
