Help...Socket Frustration

I've been a fan of Soulseek for years...the last two have been frustrating as I work full-time and have been in a couple of music groups, so no time to spend trying to figure out the socket errors on SoulseekQT. It used to be easy to solve, now I'm finding it a nightmare. Been at this for 4 hours now, with port forwarding software, and still no luck. I have no idea how to configure my firewall beyond allowing Soulseek. I've reset my ISP to static, and set my port for forwarding. All I get is another ISP number coming back (using Comodo Security Suite) with the same damned error.
It used to be so simple. Why did it have to change?
Can someone out there help me with this? I'm not a techie, just a fairly intelligent user.
