Disconnection When Searching
I've been doing a lot of experiments to try and nail down exactly what's happening here, and I think I've figured it out.
If I do a search and initiate a download, everything works fine. If I do another search and start that download, any previous downloads will finish but anything else I have lined up WILL NOT download, despite the client saying that it is connected. Essentially what I have to do is search, click "download," and then restart the client. Somehow searching interrupts the connectivity - I can always finish the file I'm on, but after searching, queued files just sit there.
The problem extends further too. After a search, my entire internet connection seems to be interrupted for a moment. Webpages will not work, other applications using the internet stall, etc. Then I shut down the client, wait a couple of minutes, and everything returns to normal. I reboot the client, all the queued up stuff starts churning again, but as soon as I do another search, BOOM, webpages quit, no new downloads will initiate, etc.
If I'm doing this on the computer that's WIRED to the internet, that's all that happens. But if I'm using my laptop, wirelessly, it actually causes a complete blip in my router's functionality as well. Things like Netflix will go off, although they seem to work a moment or two later.
This is a frustrating issue that I've been dealing with for quite some time, and this is the simplest explanation I've been able to offer when it comes to the errors. I'm running the newest version of SoulSeekQT as of October 25th, for Windows. Any help on this would be appreciated. NONE of these problems happen outside of using SoulSeek, so I know the client or its interaction with my computer/router is somewhat responsible.
Any similar issues? Any easy fixes?
Thanks.
