Blank screen on Ubuntu

Forums:
I've been using Nicotine+ for years now despite a number of issues it has. I actually just now heard about the "new" SoulseekQT client so decided to give it a try. I'm running Ubuntu 13.10 (32 bit). When I open the executable I'm prompted for a username and password and then am able to choose my share folder. The folder is scanned, and when that's complete I get a blank grey screen. No controls whatsoever aside from the Available button. Right-clicking anywhere in the grey I get an "Enter room" dialogue button, but that's it. The GUI isn't drawing at all.
I do have the QT library installed, so not sure what else it could be.
