Search v Browse Users Files

Hope you can help. In certain cases, when I search for a particular file/ folder, nothing comes up but, when I browse the users files whom I know has the file/folder I'm looking for (having downloaded a few of the user's files previously), it's listed in his/her file lists. The user is obviously online so I select the file/folder for download.

So, then the file/folder appears in my download folder. But then it just sits there without downloading with no numbers at all under the 'place' column. The user is still online because of the blue icon to the left of the users name.

I have left it overnight but in the morning, the file/folder remains in my download folder with the user still online and nothing is in my transfers! I hope I have explained myself clearly. Can anyone help, please?
