have some questions

Hi -

I'm giving SoulseekQT (2/1/2012) a go, running under MacOS 10.6.8, after ssX suddenly stopped working completely today. Great to see that this is developing, thanks for working on it!

I am having a few issues though. Some are clearly issues and other may or may not be, but I'll mention them in the spirit of reportage and feedback. :-)

1) I notice that the SoulseekQT / Preferences menu selection is grayed out. I see there is an Options panel but it seems to have far fewer settings than I'm accustomed to seeing in an Soulseek client.

2) I'd like to set up my shares but can't seem to figure out how to do that. I've gone through all the tabs. I don't want to do too much downloading without setting my shares - some people seem to have nothing better to do than sit around scrutinizing people downloading from them, looking for a reason to ban.

3) I'd also like to change my download directory but can't seem to do that either. If I go to Options / File Sharing there is a box called Download Folder but I can't change its value.

4) I seem to be able to search ok, but I'd like the search results (triangles) to be condensed rather than expanded by default. Is there a way to collapse them all at once?

I've also taken a look at the various Diagnostics panels and noticed a few things.

5) I notice that the Port Forwarding subpanel has the following error recurring: "Port mapping failure, miniupnp error: -3". Things seem to work ok despite this so I'm not sure if this represents an issue. ssX has worked ok for years (until today).

6) The Peer Messenger subpanel has a million errors in it: "Indirect connection attempt of type P to timed out, closing" for different users. But I have no shares and I have no downloads so I'm wondering what all these are from and if they too represent a problem.

Thanks again for the good work!

Hi,

1) The client is in development, those are the options that are available right now.
2) The action bar at the top should show you a 'Share Folder' option when the Options->File Sharing tab is selected.
3) There should be a 'Set Download Folder' button alongside the 'Share Folder' button.
4) The action bar should show 'Expand Folders' and 'Expand Users' buttons in association with search results.
5) That means your router wouldn't respond to a UPnP port mapping request. I suggest manually forwarding your port in that case.
6) Those are normal for regular peer to peer operation. Even if you're not doing anything the client will attempt to join the search distribution network via peer to peer.

Cheers, thanks, Nir
