Question about the extension filter (Options->Extras)

Hey there,
maybe I'm just understanding the extension filter the wrong way?
I thought that it's for filtering out extensions that you don't want shared.
This would come in very handy for me, because I have an older folder that got recovered from a data rescue action some time ago, and I would name all files [whatever].mp1 which are broken so I know which to replace.
However, I don't want to share that stuff. Nor am I keen on (re)sharing folders which contain the (in)famous Thumbs.db file from Windows XP.
That's why I added "db" and "mp1" to the exclusion list, however, it does not seem to work.
Do I need the dot maybe? So ".db" instead of "db"?
I thought I'd better ask on here instead of trial-and-error'ing for yet another 10 minutes.

Filtered extensions (under
Filtered extensions (under Options->File Sharing) only apply to files you yourself download. It's up to the downloader to decide which files they don't want to download from you.
Whoops! Thanks for
Whoops! Thanks for enlightening me =D
BTW, I found you have moved that option. It is indeed in Options->File Sharing in the Dec 16 2012 build, but the Dec 02 2012 one still had it in "Extras".
Point taken; it's up to the downloader but sometimes it would come in very handy to mask out some "stupid" extensions like said .db for files you are sharing to others. Because you will show less clutter to others that way, without having to physically delete data from your shares. You'd just be placing the invisibility cloak on them, that's all :)
