Forums:
I have a Mackbook Pro Retina 2012 (Mountan Lion) with 16GB RAM memory.
I start soulseek and my external harddrive is connected (to share files).
The Inactive Ram on my mackbook goes after 5 min. to 100%.
When my external harddrive not is connected the RAM usage is normal around 18%.
What can i do to solve this Ram problem?

That does sound extreme... I would look for any symbolic links on the external hard drive that might be causing a scanning loop.

When i use Isoul and my external harddrive is connected, i don't have this RAM problem.
My RAM memory stays around 18%.
But with soulseek (external harddrive connected) goes the inactive memory to 100%.
Maybe it's a problem on soulseek?
Yeah, this definitely appears
Yeah, this definitely appears to be a problem with SoulseekQt. One thing you can try is:
1. Go to Options->UI and check Show diagnostics.
2. Restart the client and try to share your external drive if it isn't set to share already.
3. Before it runs out of memory, check the Options->Diagnostics->Shared tabs. It should list all the subfolders that the client is trying to share, maybe you'll see something there that might explain the memory consumption. If you're not sure, post the contents of the tab in this thread.
Same problem on Lion 10.7.5
I've been having the same issue since trying out SoulseekQt.I have the lastest version Soulseek, but no fix yet.My inactive memory goes to 100%.No idea what is causing this.My Macbook Pro is a i7 with 8gb ram.I'm sharing an external Hd with 500gb.This issue only appears with SoulseekQT.
I just forced quit Soulseek, purged memory and all seems good.Weird!I'm thinking at some point the problem will present itself again.I will keep an eye out.
same problem with 10.8.5
21.5" iMac, 2.5 GHZ quad core i5, 16GB RAM. With no activity, 16GB RAM is used up by SoulSeexQT within minutes. I used MacPurge to purge the memory but the cycle repeats endlessly. Remove SoulSeexQT and its hidden files, memory usage returns to normal. Reinstall, the cycle begins again.
It sounds like there may be a
It sounds like there may be a problem with the shared folder scanning process. I would try starting without any files shared and see if the problem persists. We can proceed from there once we know.
observation
I started with no shares then added 1 album at a time to shares. The free memory dropped 0.1GB per album. Next i added a folder of 185 albums and free memory immediately started dropping from 11.7GB to 10MB whereupon Memory Scope automatically purged the memory and free memory rose to 11.7GB and started to drop again. I removed all shares and free memory continues to drop. I closed SoulSeexQT and free memory drop stopped.
Are you using build 2013.9.18
Are you using build 2013.9.18? It sounds like the file scanning process is stuck in a loop.... here's what you can do to see if that's the case:
observations 2
Using the latest 2013.9.18 build.
4. Scanning is not continuous. Free RAM continues to drop.
If you don't mind, I'm deleting SoulSeexQT. I want my quad core 2.5GHz iMac back to normal again.
