Mac Trouble right after install

Hello!
I've downloaded the latest mac version of soulseek.
When I go to run it from my applications folder, it
starts,
asks for login
asks for share folder
and then the dialog closes
and everything hangs
in the soulseek menu ((which still works), things like 'quit' are greyed out. Even the little red gold green top left window buttons don't work.
With any click on any button or field, i simply get the general error beep. As though things are frozen or there's another dialogue open.
The only thing i can think of is that my main HD is an external drive, and maybe that confuses soulseek?
MacBook Pro OSX 10.8
Thoughts?

It's not the external drive thing
I have exactly the same problem on iMac and MacBook both running 10.9.4
Very frustrating - have you had any joy with this?
Really frustrating !
Same problem for me on an iMac running 10.8.5... A clue, anyone ?

Hmm, I'm seeing this problem too. Looking into it now.
If this may help...
I was running Mavericks and the latest version of Soulseek, and it was perfect. Due to a major HD crash, I had to reinstall an OS. I'm not a big fan of Mavericks, so I decided to downgrade to 10.8.5. A clean install and a strong formatting made my puter powerful, except this one and only incompatibility...
Dunno if it may help, but anyway, thanks Nir, the question is worth considerating !
