Crashes (windows build)

Forums:
Soulseek has recently (within the past month or so) become unusable. I'm using windows 8. I can't open a new search without it crashing after ~20 seconds of it being open (even if I stop the Stop Search button straight away). I have nothing else downloading and no other search tabs open. I also often get freezes for up (approximately) a minute in length just from casually looking through options and such. The freezes induced by using the search do not resolve at all and I have to close the program through task manager.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the application (many times over) but it is exactly the same.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Help!

Yes I use AVG; my build is 2015.6.5, it seems to happen on whichever build I install.
Apologies for late reply. I still encounter the same problem.

Hmm. Maybe it works if you exclusively disable virus scanning for the SoulseekQt download folder and all its subfolders (i. e. downloading, complete)?

crash
I'm using the 2015-6-12 build and the program keeps crashing. Getting Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library errors. I have no idea what that means. Read somewhere to delete all Microsoft Visual stuff and reinstall. Now I'm not sure what to reinstall as the files this other post pointed to were old and not for Windows 7 64-bit. Unfortunately in doing what I did, can't get Soulseek to download files.
Please help.
still happening
I reset my computer to an earlier time, before I deleted all the Microsoft Visual stuff. This of course set the build back to 2014-6-15. However the program still crashes.
Error that comes up:
"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" - the header
Big red X, followed by this message:
"This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."
Anyone have an ideas as to what's going on? This just started today July 8, 2015.
