RAM consumption

Hi, I'm an old user of SoulSeek, and in the last week I've tried to install and run SoulseekQT. Everything looks fine at the beginning, but after a few minutes I experienced an overall slowdown on my notebook (Windows Vista): opening the taskmanager i could see that the RAM usage was at some 600-700 Kb, while on the 1.57 client it never pass the 30 Kb threshold.
Is this normal?

I'm assuming you mean
I'm assuming you mean megabytes and not kilobytes. How many files are you sharing, more or less? Oh, also, did you have a lot of other users' shares and/or search result windows open at the time? Those three are the biggest consumers of memory.
yeh, sorry, Mb. Anyway, i've
yeh, sorry, Mb. Anyway, i've made some testing with the same share I have in Soulseek NS; here's what i can observe:
Soulseek NS with some uploads and downloads, queue, pretty long users' lists and 80 Gb of shared files: some 25-26 Mb of RAM usage
SoulseekQt with no uploads and downloads, no queue, 1 friend and the same 80 Gb of shared files: 70 Mb of RAM usage
That sounds about right.
That sounds about right. SoulseekQt uses a data management system that's very versatile, but it isn't optimized for memory use yet. Even once it is, it's doubtful you'd be getting the same memory use as the original Soulseek client. In the meantime, if memory is a concern just keep an eye on the number of search and share browse windows you have open simultaneously, or switch back to the original Soulseek client until the situation improves. Sorry for the inconvenience.
